Broadcast Engineer
Eurovision Services is seeking highly motivated Broadcast Engineer to become part of the Broadcast Engineering & Support team. She/he will join the Technology division in Madrid, Spain.
ABOUT THE ES TECHNOLOGY TEAM
The Technology Team is the driving force behind all our technical infrastructure, networks, corporate systems, and software IT. It is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the entire technical landscape, which serves as the foundation for all permanent and event-based operational services for our customers (e.g., media organizations, sports federations, and event enterprises).
The Broadcast Engineering & Support team members are responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, operation, mantainance, and troubleshooting of the Eurovision Services broadcast and network infrastructure, ensuring service reliability, compliance, and business continuity during global sportive events.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and evolve backbone and fiber network architecture, monitoring provider performance against SLAs and conducting regular reviews.
Test, validate, and deploy firmware and software, ensuring equipment compliance and lifecycle currency.
Lead service activation and delivery, defining workarounds to ensure continuity.
Own incident troubleshooting, resolution, and reporting across fiber networks, satellite, streaming, and broadcast equipment.
Produce technical documentation (procedures, handovers) and operational reports (activities, incidents).
Contribute to event projects (engineering design, staging, installation, monitoring, onsite support), including travel as required.
Lead the specifications for broadcast equipment procurement, and oversee configuration, commissioning, and installation in coordination with Finance, Logistics, PM, Operations, clients, and providers.
Provide solid technical support to the PreSales team, contributing clear inputs to RFPs.
Train and support the team to ensure consistent monitoring practices and service integrity.
Apply ITIL practices across incident, problem, and change management Participate in on-call and stand by rotations to ensure service continuity outside office hours.
Drive automation initiatives to streamline manual processes, ensuring compliance and continuously improving ways of working, including the adoption of digital and AI-enabled tools.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Strong knowledge of signal transport standards, including fiber, satellite, streaming, and SRT.
Experience with monitoring and observability tools, including alarm handling, SNMP, APIs, and platforms such as Dataminer, Centreon, and Grafana.
Knowledge of A/V and IP test and measurement, including video standards and signal processing.
Experience with video over IP and live production systems, including switching, graphics, audio, and slow motion.
Expertise or working knowledge of SMPTE ST 2110 and PTP, including operation, analysis, troubleshooting, and commissioning of ST 2110 networks.
Familiarity with telco, data center, and network environments, including platforms such as Infinera and Net Insight Nimbra.
Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including configuration and maintenance via CLI across platforms such as Cisco, Arista, HP, and Mellanox.
Knowledge of routing, switching, and network protocols, including VLAN, SDH, OSPF, MPLS, BGP, and PIM.
Experience with documentation tools such as AutoCAD and Visio.
Additional experience in cloud broadcast (e.g., AWS, Akamai), RF and satellite systems, databases, scripting or coding, virtualization and containerization (e.g., vCenter, Proxmox), NaaS is a plus
Knowledge of project management methods is a plus.
Strong proactivity and autonomy, showing accountability and flexibility during monitoring and troubleshooting instances.
Strong service orientation and awareness of urgency.
Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
